About Us

Counting Stick Software was founded in 2000 by Jeremy Baer and Chenoah Morgan. This is our story.

In 1995, we met and over the year became friends. I came from a business/banking background and Jeremy was working on a Master's Degree in Computer Science at the University of Washington in Seattle.

In 1996, we got engaged and I moved to Seattle. I was studying anthropology when an opportunity arose in the Computer Science department at UW. I participated in a Human Computer Interaction (HCI) class with Jeremy. Our class project was to design and create an application and user test it. We successfully completed our first collaboration called MathPaint and tested it at The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) in Portland, OR. The success of this project inspired us both to push forward in further collaboration.

In 1998, we were married. A short two years later, we founded Counting Stick Software.

Our business model was to keep our overhead low by not hiring employees and by doing the work ourselves. We also decided not to take on any investors. This model proved to be successful in the harsh face of the dot.com bubble bursting. We continued working in the industry during this time, doing business in the areas of education, edutainment, e-commerce, 2D & 3D graphics, animation, corporate web page design, and web applications. We also bring business solutions and marketing to the table.

Over the years, while contracting and holding down full-time employment, we built our company's first commercial application known as SketchRay, a stand-alone image processing tool.

We have acquired a wealth of knowledge and skills in the industry and we maintain incredibly high standards for every project and client. We continue to learn and grow, and are always excited about cutting-edge challenges in this fast-paced industry.

Outside of work, we both enjoy the outdoors, making music, building flutes, and art.
